The Fava 3vs3 Tournament is our annual summer showdown—an open-air street ball event that brings the whole community together for a day (or two) of high-energy hoops, music, and local pride.

Set right on the iconic Fava court, the tournament welcomes players of all levels and backgrounds. Teams of three battle it out in a fast-paced, half-court format where creativity, hustle, and teamwork shine.

Alongside the games, you’ll find DJs spinning, the chiosco serving up food and drinks, and the sidelines buzzing with neighbours, artists, families, and friends.

With support from community partners and the local council, the Fava 3vs3 has become a highlight of Bologna’s summer—blending sport, culture, and resistance into one unforgettable event.

Boloncesto – Indoor Hoops, Community Vibes

Boloncesto is our weekly 5x5 full-court basketball run, organised by community member Héctor. Held in a classic indoor gym, it’s the perfect way to enjoy the game without the pressure of playing outdoors—especially when the weather’s off or you just want that clean hardwood feel.

Open to all levels, Boloncesto is about fun, flow, and friendly competition. Whether you’re looking to sharpen your skills, meet new people, or just move your body in good company, this run has you covered.

Outdoor – Summer Nights.

Cinema Fava is our annual summer open-air film series, held in collaboration with Parsec—right on the basketball court under the stars.

Each year, the community helps choose the line up by voting for their favourite films. The top three are screened on summer evenings after the last game of the day.

It’s free, open to all, and designed for togetherness. Bring your date, your friends, or your family—along with stools, mats, blankets, or snacks. The chiosco also offers plenty of refreshments.

Curated by our community member Sam, Out of Bolo is a community-driven Instagram project that captures the stories, style, and spirit of Bolognese youth beyond the city’s postcard image.

From Basketball to street culture, it’s a visual diary of life at the Fava Court, a digital playground for our young community members to engage with content creation, storytelling, and online entertainment. It documents the everyday shenanigans, magic moments, and raw energy of the Fava court, while also encouraging experimentation with digital media, social creativity, and artistic expression.

Whether through memes, mini-docs, reels, photo series, or creative edits, the project empowers youth to shape the narrative of their space and city—on their own terms, through their own lens. It’s local, it’s playful, it’s unapologetically us.

Basket City Tour is your ultimate basketball-themed adventure through Bologna—designed for fans who want more than the usual tourist routine, and also supports our community member’s passion for the Lore of the game.

The tour offers the opportunity to explore the city through the lens of hoops culture with guided visits to iconic arenas. It also includes coffee chats with local legends, and a chance to cap the day with a game at the legendary Fava court.

Le Gazze in Campo is our ongoing clothes-swapping project in collaboration with Le Gazze, a Bologna-based collective promoting ethical fashion and sustainability.

Since 2021, they’ve been raising awareness about the fashion industry's impact through art and Swap Parties across the city. Together, we bring the energy to Fava with sports-themed clothing swaps—no money, just good vibes and fresh fits.

As the self-appointed custodians of the Fava court, we take pride in caring for a space that means so much to our community. It’s more than just a playground—it’s a shared home. Our commitment is rooted in a deep sense of responsibility, presence, and love for the people who use it every day.

We organise ourselves to keep the court clean, safe, and welcoming. From sweeping the grounds to repairing nets, protecting the mural, and ensuring respectful use of the space, our work is about service—done with care, not authority.

We also collaborate closely with the Porto-Saragozza neighbourhood council and Bologna City Hall, meeting regularly to address both the environmental upkeep and the social dynamics of the playground. Together, we identify challenges—like waste management, safety, or access—and propose creative, community-based solutions.

Through this ongoing dialogue, we ensure the court isn’t just maintained, but supported by institutions and neighbourhood networks alike.
